چکیده
Abstract Until recently, horizontal-axial wind turbines with blades having a wing profile occupied predominant position in the world energy market. But currently, vertical-axial units are of increasing interest and this is understandable from point view their important features as: no requirements for orientation turbine to wind, possibility placing electrical other equipment on ground, changes blade chord installation angle along its length. The article discusses aerodynamics vertical-axis turbines: range angles incoming flow attack blade, dynamics magnitude absolute speed circular trajectory movement depending rapidity, also obtained experiments interaction effect rotor. were carried out original (basic version), which designed eliminate shortcomings low-speed rotors Savonius (low coefficient use energy) high-speed Darrieus (lack self-start).

Application of Circulation Controlled Blades for Vertical Axis Wind Turbines
The blades of a vertical axis wind turbine (VAWT) rotor see an inconsistent angle of attack through its rotation. Consequently, VAWT blades generally use symmetrical aerofoils with a lower lift-to-drag ratio than cambered aerofoils tailored to maximise horizontal axis wind turbine rotor performance. This paper considers the feasibility of circulation controlled (CC) VAWT blades, using a tangent...

Full-scale, 3D, time-dependent aerodynamics and fluid–structure interaction (FSI) simulations of a Darrieus-type vertical-axis wind turbine (VAWT) are presented. A structural model of the Windspire VAWT (Windspire energy, http://www.windspireenergy.com/) is developed, which makes use of the recently proposed rotation-free Kirchhoff–Love shell and beam/cable formulations. A moving-domain finite-...

With roller coaster traditional fuel prices and ever increasing energy demand, wind energy has known significant growth over the last years. To pave the way for higher efficiency and profitability of wind turbines, advances have been made in different aspects related to this technology. One of these has been the increasing size of wind turbines, thus rendering the wind blades gigantic, lighter ...
